Welcome To Kinigi Eco Center
Our Story
Driven by a love for the beautiful country of Rwanda and the wonderful people who live there, and a passion for healing our planet and promoting peace, Terri Mayhan and Farakhan Willis Osemo brought their knowledge, experience, dreams and ideas together to create a very special place. The incredible piece of land in a most breathtakingly beautiful location in Kinigi had already been purchased by Terri, as she had the beginnings of an idea of what this vision was. But it wasn’t until she was joined by Farakhan that, after many a late night of sharing ideas, the duo finally had a complete vision of what this multi-faceted gem really looks like.
Our desire is to give people from around the world a place to gather and celebrate, learn, share, and be inspired to live sustainably and creatively, enjoying abundance, good health, and prosperity. We see Permaculture as the way of the future, and a practical solution for subsistence farmers to thrive rather than barely survive on their small plots of land, while restoring rather than depleting the ecosystem in which they live.
We know that there are so many talented artists and crafters in Rwanda who need more venues where they can sell their work, and talented performers who’s talent should be shared with the world. Also, we wish to share inspiration for up-cycling rather than discarding items, turning trash into treasure. We will showcase and teach building and creating with natural and up-cycled materials, in an environment that is beautiful, fun and family oriented. Our Center will be a treat for the senses, as well as the mind and spirit. Not just something to see, but something to experience. Together.
